Is true the sixth generation Golf has just been officially revealed in Paris, but it seems Volkswagen has already looking at a younger model. The Golf VI is just meant as to fill the gap for when the Golf VII arrives in three years. This is not a big surprise considering the car is more of a facelift than a new generation.
The next generation Golf will be built on a totally new platform known as the MQB (Modular Querbaukaste) platform. This platform can accommodate engines from different architecture, including the hybrid one derived from the Twin Drive.

Now that the Volkswagen Golf is on its sixth generation, it means that prices go down on previous generations, leaving more room in the budget for performance parts. This may be why JMS revealed today its new tuning parts for the Golf IV. The new kit includes a front bumper with 3 big cutouts, the customer can choose black or silver vents, new side skirts, a new roof spoiler and a new rear bumper featuring 3 big cutouts with integrated exhaust cutters.
Also, a new coilover system from H&R was installed as well as a new set of Eta Beta 19 inch alloy wheels fitted with 225/35R19 tires. At the customer’s request, the tuner can install 18 inch ASA wheels fitted with 225/40R18 tires. Price of the kit: $6,600.
Since the first generation was launched and until now, Volkswagen sold more than 1.7 million GTI worldwide. Now this success history will go even further with the debut of the sixth generation GTI at the Paris Auto Show. Sales will begin in spring 2009.
With a top speed of 148 mph and 207 hp turbo engine, the new GTI offers even more fun to drive, but with a fuel consumption of only 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Golf GTI comes with an unique combination of agile and athletic engine. At 1800 rpm the engine develops a maximum torque of 280 Nm. After only 7,2 seconds the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is completed.
The GTI features an electronic limited-slip differential called XDS and the Scirocco’s adaptive chassis. At the exterior the new GTi is inspired by the Golf GTI W12 concept, there’s a wide, one-piece lower-grille which is far more aggressive than the three-piece design on the fifth-generation GTI. It features foglights, a narrow upper-grille featuring red-banding and a rear diffuser which features twin exhausts.

As reported yesterday, Volkswagen will add three more version to its Golf VI line-up. And first of them will be GTI that will be revealed at the Paris Auto Show. And this is how the car might look like.
The GTI will be powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine that delivers 211 hp (same engine used in the Audi Q5).
Volkswagen will start GTI’s production in April 2009, so at the beginning of the summer you will be able to receive the keys to your brand new GTI.
The company will also reveal a GTI R version, developed by Volkswagen Individual. It will be powered by the same engine found on the TTS. It will be unveiled at the end of 2009.

After unveiling the sixth generation Golf, Volkswagen also announced there will also be three sporty versions.
First there will be the GTI version that will be revealed at the Paris Auto Show. It will deliver 210 hp and will go on sale before mid-year 2009 with prices starting at 26,400 euros (or about $38,150 at current rates, if converted directly.)
The turbo-boosted GTI has a claimed 0 to100 kilometers per hour (62.5 mph) time of 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 239 km/hour, or just under 150 mph.
Next is the Golf GTD, due to go into production next April. Powered by a common-rail diesel generating 170hp, it will start at 27,225 euros, or about $39,340.
The new Golf’s range topper will be an all-wheel-drive "R" version from Volkswagen Individual. The in-house customization unit boosts the GTI to 270 hp and adds a black gleaming diffuser, among other features.
The production launch for the Golf R is early November 2009. Its price has not been disclosed.

It’s not ever for sale yet, and already Volkswagen is unveiling a collector’s edition of the new Golf. VW will present at the Paris Auto Show a special edition Golf VI, which will be the fourth version next to the “Trendline”, “Comfortline” and “Highline”.
The Collectors Edition concept car was painted in a dark blue called “Moonlight blue pearl effect”. While the radiator grille of the production Golf was designed in black, here it is presented in the car’s color. In the wheels area, new 18-inch “Vancouver” alloy wheels are used. They can also be ordered as an option on the production car, and they were given a high-gloss polish for the Collectors Edition.

Volkswagen will unveil a station wagon version for its newly launched Golf VI by the summer of 2009. The car will be destined for the European market and will be available for purchase by late 2009. The technology behind the Variant version will remain unchanged from the normal Golf, including the engine choices. Rumors say that VW may give the U.S. a version, where it would be known as the Jetta Wagon.
But before the wagon, VW will unveil the GTI version at the Paris Auto Show and the Golf Plus at the Bologna Motor Show (December 5 to 14).

The new body kit consists in a front bumper (priced at €400 or $590) with 3 big intake vents, new side skirts featuring air ducts on the end and a new rear apron with or without any exhaust system cutout.
JMS delivers also a new exhaust system with left and right 90 millimeter tips at a price of €509 or $750. Also, new Eta Beta 8×19’’ alloy wheels are available fitted with 225/35R19 tires.
