Fuel efficiency is a very big problems in our days, and engines like the V8 or the V6 are not the best in this area. This is why, starting 2010, when the redesigned Santa Fe will be launched, it will also be offered with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder power plant.
The DOHC inline-4 engine, code-named Theta, debuted this year in the 2009 Hyundai Sonata sedan, where it makes 175 hp and 168 lbs-ft of torque.
The engine is will be available with a six-speed automatic transmission. In a Sonata with an automatic transmission, the new engine returns 22 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
Also, starting 2010 or 2011 the Tucson will also be offered with four-cylinder engines.
Few months ago we told you about the Kahn Cosworth Sport 300 project consisting in the developing of a highly modified version of the Range Rover Sport. Well, today the car was unoficially unveiled! Powered by a 3.6L V8 turbo-diesel engine capable to develop 300 hp, the vehicle can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 8 seconds while the top speed is limited to 216 km/h.
The SUV features also a new body kit consisting in a new front spoiler, side sills, a rear roof spoiler as well as a re-designed rear spoiler with integrated exhaust system. In order to improve the stability 22 inch alloy wheels were added. If you want to transform your Range Rover Sport into the new Kahn Cosworth Sport 300 you will need approximately $33,000 depending on your requests!

BMW will unveil the next generation X3 in 2010. It will compete with the Audi Q5 and the future Mercedes GLK.
To be built on the same 3-Series platform like the current model (but stretched and widened to help differentiate it from the 3-series wagon), the 2010 X3 will get an all-new exterior and new engines under the hood.
Under the hood we will see the same engine range with just a few exceptions. It is expected that the 2.5i version to be dropped just because 160 hp won’t be enough for a future SUV (we have to consider that the Infiniti EX has an output of 290 hp and the GLK starting from 228 hp). Instead BMW will add the powerful twin-turbo 3.0 liter engine used in the 335i.
Perhaps when it comes to more power and performance, the GL 500 SUV of Mercedes wouldn’t necessarily be the first choice. Carlsson instead comes out with an impressive new body kit for the big SUV. With 33 mm lower and a full bodykit the giant GL500 has now a sporty sculpted look. A C-Tronic suspension system guarantees the downforce on the car at speeds above 120km/h, ensuring adequate suspension travel and therefore preserving predictable handling characteristics.
With new performance achieved the big SUV can now reach 100km/h in only 6.1 seconds, while the top speed is limited at 248km/h. Such kind of performance, 388 hp V8 requires a special ‘engine kit’ that tunes the power up by over 12%. A special quad-tip exhaust adds an appropriate soundtrack to the new found power. At the interior, the CK50 is finished with a combination of nappa leather, carbon fiber and wood trim at choice and each car can be customized as the buyer desires.
Audi today announced the European prices for the 2009 Q5: it will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2008 at a starting price of EUR 38,300. The Q5 will compete against models such as the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK and Volvo XC60.
The Audi Q5 is appearing on the market with three engines – one gasoline and two TDI.
The 2.0 TFSI delivers 211 hp and a peak torque of 258.15 lb-ft. The Audi Q5 2.0 TSI reaches 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.2 seconds from a standing start, and has a top speed of 222 km/h (137.94 mph). Its fuel consumption averages just 8.5 liters per 100 km (27.67 US mpg).
The 2.0 TDI has an output of 170 hp and a peak torque of 258.15 lb-ft. The two-liter TDI propels the Audi Q5 from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 9.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 204 km/h (126.76 mph).
The 3.0 TDI V6 delivers 240 hp and a peak torque of 368.78 lb-ft. It takes the Audi Q5 from a standstill to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 225 km/h (139.81 mph). On average the three-liter engine needs only 7.5 liters of fuel per 100 km (30.55 US mpg).

Last week, we brought you news about the Chinese counterpart of the BMW X5 and how the German court banned the maker from selling it in Germany. For those who thought the escapade was over, wait till you hear this.
A German court in Munich has slotted into top gear and ordered Shuanghuan to destroy all their SUVs plying German roads. Making matters worse is the court’s notice to importers, China Automobile, to pay compensatory damages to BMW.
BMW as expected is overjoyed with the court’s verdict which was imminent when BMW’s spokesperson stated that "We are pleased that the court has agreed with our views”
The not so happy Karl Schloessl of China Automobile Germany, said he would launch an appeal against the ruling, which is not yet binding, saying he was prepared to take the case to the European Court of Justice.
It was impossible to ban a vehicle in Germany that was allowed to be on the road in the rest of Europe, Schloessl said, adding that there were more than a 1,000 of them on the road in Italy.
This news serves as a slap on the face of Chinese automakers as a whole. If further verdicts support BMW which I think will, there would be no other choice for Shuanghuan other than plucking its SUVs off German roads and sending them to the crushers. With that said, Chinese automakers will be forced to think twice before bringing their copy cars to Germany again.

Yesterday we revealed you the Overfinch SuperSport II based on the Range Rover Sport. As we said, the car meant to be officially unveiled today at the Salon Prive Luxury and Supercar Show in London, but yet another surprise appeared: the Range Rover Country Pursuits Concept . The new concept features an exclusive Aubergine paint colour, and an unique body kit consisting in a re-designed front bumper, new side skirts, a new rear bumper with integrated exhaust system as well as a rear roof spoiler. Also new 20” or optionally, 22” wheels were added.
Under the hood, everything is in the superlative due to the 470 hp obtained out of the 4.2 liter supercharged V8 engine. In order to stop the car a high performance Brembo braking system was added as well as a new suspension kit which is electronic adjustable.

The 2008 Toyota Highlander is a seven passenger "affordable" midsized SUV. It was first introduced in 2002, and quickly became Toyota’s best selling SUV, until the Rav4 outsold it in 2006. After seven years, the highlander was in need of makeover. The highlander just looks dated, particularly in the cabin, which was smaller than most current SUV models. In 2008, Toyota decided it was time for a change and introduced a completely redesigned Highlander. The new highlander is built on the same platform as the current Toyota Camry, and is now longer, wider and taller than its previous generation.
This new SUV is offered in several trim levels: base, Sport and Limited, each with front or all-wheel drive. The Hybrid models are base and limited, and both are offered only with all-wheel drive. So, you have plenty of trim options to choose from.

Land Rover will unveil at the British Motor Show a high-specification version of its Range Rover model. The new special edition is called "Autobiography" and will be priced at £72,995.
The new flagship receives more leather upholstery than any Range Rover before. What’s more, this luxurious semi-aniline leather is from the very best hides, which, after minimum processing, will age over time to give the truly unique character.
The Autobiography’s fascia, door casings, door bins, seats and center console are all finished in leather, complementing the traditional interior wood. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, the leather-topped fascia has a softer, more luxurious feel, and even the floor mats are edged with leather.
The 2009 Range Rover Autobiography also offers new 20-inch diamond-turned twin-seven-spoke alloy wheels, new paint colors and an optional half wood steering wheel with matching gearshift insert.
